Follow The Olympic Torch!
I am very excited to be able to follow the Olympic Torch as it makes it way across Canada. It will be passing by my town on December 30! This is such a memorable event. I was a teenager in 1988 when the last Winter Olympic Games were held in Canada. Back then, we didn't have the technology that we do today to track the torch and to stay updated in "real time" on the Olympic events. After ceremonies were conducted from Ancient Olympia, Greece, the torch was handed over to Olympic officials and the relay bagan in Victoria, BC on October 30, 2009 and has been travelling Eastward through the Northern part of Canada. It is now in Quebec and will be making its way to the Maritimes over the next few days. The torch will travel over 45,000 km in total and will be carried through 1000 communities over 100 days. To track the torch and to find out all you need to know about the 2010 Olympics and the history of the Olympic Torch, please visit the website of the Vancouver 2010 Olympic games at www.vancouver2010.com.
