Homemade Foot Scrub

Today is the first day that I have worn flip flops since last summer and I have noticed that my feet have been neglected over the winter. I came to the conclusion that I needed to exfoliate and moisturize them and I was thinking of trying a foot scrub made from brown sugar and olive oil. I took about 1/4 cup regular brown sugar that I use for baking and added an equal amount of olive oil. I then set up a basin with warm water and soaked my feet then applied the foot scrub. I massaged the scrub into my feet and I could instantly feel it moisturize my skin. This homemade treatment worked wonders and now my feet look and feel soft. I think next time I will add some lavender oil to it just to give it a nice calm, relaxing smell. Now I just have to pick out some pretty nail polish. I think a bright pink will do.

PS This scrub is great for men's feet too!

Homemade Hair Mask

I conditioned my hair with this homemade mask yesterday and it made my hair feel and look awesome! Simply combine:

1 egg yolk, beaten
1 tbsp olive oil
1 tbsp vinegar
1 tbsp shampoo

Mix this all together and you will notice that it will form a thick paste. Apply it to dry hair from root to tip then place a shower cap on your head. Let this sit for about half an hour then rinse it out and shampoo and condition you hair as normal. The nutrients in the egg will strengthen your hair, the olive oil moisturizes it, and the vinegar balances it out the PH level in your hair. Your hair will be very shiny and have a lot of body!

Shampoo Enhancer

I have discovered a simple trick to boost the performance of your shampoo. Simply squirt your shampoo into the palm of your hand and add about a teaspoon of baking soda to it. Then message the shampoo into your hair and scalp, rinse, then condition and rinse. The baking soda will give your hair a deep cleaning, make it soft and shiny, boost your hair colour, and remove product buildup. If you have hard water you will notice a significant improvement in the performance of your shampoo if you add the baking soda!

Palmer's Firming Butter Lotion

I recently purchased this product and love it! After having 3 kids my abdomen skin is not as firm as it used to be and it is really starting to bother me. I do abdomen exercises everyday but it just isn't firming my skin. I saw Palmer's Firming Butter in the drugstore and thought I would give it a try. I have been using it for about a week and I have seen a difference in my skin. It feels firmer and it has more elasticity to it. It is a thick lotion so you do not need to use a lot at once. It is also quite afforable at about $7.50 a bottle. It is formulated to treat skin after pregnancy or significant weight loss. I wish I had started using this lotion years ago!

Anew Reversalist Night Wrinkle Cream Avon Review

I recently received a sample of Anew Reversalist Night Renewal Cream by Avon. I really like the scent of this cream. It was very fresh and uplifting. The cream also made my skin feel firmer and moisturized and you only need to use a small amount to cover your face and neck. The cream is designed to reactivate skin's surface repair process to help reverse the look of wrinkles. The Anew's Activinol Technology is designed to boost Activin, to recreate fresher, newer-looking skin. A clinical study has also shown that after 2 weeks of use, 73% of women said their skin felt and looked reborn and fine wrinkles were improved up to 25%. Their skin also became tighter.

Natural Hair Build-Up Remover

If you find that your hair is looking dull and limp it may be built up with all of the products that you put in your hair. Here is a great way to get rid of the build up:

Make a thick paste out of baking soda and water and massage it into your scalp and hair. Wrap your hair in a towel and let this sit for 20 to 30 minutes. Then rinse it out thoroughly with warm water and shampoo and condition your hair as normal. For added shine, you can rinse your hair again with a mixture of 1 part vinegar to 4 parts water.

After doing this, my hair was very soft, my colour was more vibrant and my hair had more body. I have hard water so I think the baking soda helps to soften it up and clean my hair better.

Your Hair Gets Thirsty Too

Lately, my hair has been so dry so that I can't do a thing with it and it has lost its shine. I guess the winter, blow drying, flat ironing, and colouring my hair has taken a toll on it and I have been neglecting it. So I decided it was time for a deep conditioning. I just wet my hair and put a deep conditioner on it (the one that came with my hair colouring kit), combed it through and just left on my hair until it dried then left it this way overnight. This morning I washed my hair as normal and my hair is shiny, soft and has more body. I think it is thanking me for finally giving it a drink!

If you know of a great deep conditioner, or any other great hair products, please let me know.
