Quiet House

My boys have been staying with my parents the last couple of days and the house has been very quiet! My daughter is here but she's not as rambunctious as the boys. I thought I would relish in the fact that I had a break from them but I ended up missing them on the first night they were gone. It's just not the same without them. I will be picking them up today and the house will be back to normal. It must be very odd when you become an empty nester. When the kids are little you dream of the day when your kids are grown and out of the house and when you finally have lots of time to yourself. I have decided however that I will not dream of this day any longer because I think it will be a lonely time at first. I wish I could bottle their youth and save it for years to come. I guess that's what pictures and videos are for. I think it may be time to start scrapbooking.

  1. I love being an empty-nester! My life has changed. I am happy to see them on their own, achieving and being wonderful members of society!

It is glorious when they visit, too, as they will at Easter. Glorious to have my space back, again when they go back to their own lives!!!!

  2. @Jenn Jilks I guess I feel the way I do because I have had no time to myself for many years. Perhaps as they get older and need you less you get eased into being on your own again. Glad to hear you are enjoying that stage of your life! Hope you have a wonderful Easter with them.
